The Alpha Rho Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau believes in maintaining a balance between academics and fun. Without enough of one or the other, you suffer in both. Students get burned out by just doing school, and you can't be much of a student by just having fun. We provide an outlet for your social side while still providing you with the scholastic achievement that you need to succeed. We host parties throughout the year, as well as multiple social events for brothers and invited guests.
Whether it's the end of the semester, middle of the Summer, New Year's Eve, or Halloween; you name it, we're probably having a party or event.
Every home football game begins with a Phi Tau tailgate. For away games, we travel to the opponent's campus and cook out with the Phi Tau chapter there. Roadtrips are a great time. Every Phi Tau chapter is open to visits from us, and we host them as well. We also find time for a date night and sorority mixers, including some mixers with sororities from other campuses. Paintball, movie nights, poker nights, Chattahoochee river tubing, and skeet/trap shooting all make the short list of impromptu Phi Tau social activities. Our major events are detailed below.
Semiformal/Formal
Every semester, Phi Tau holds a formal event. Semiformal, in the fall, takes place in Atlanta and is a one night event of dinner and dancing.
Formal, in the spring, is a weekend-long trip to a location in the southeast.

Brother's Retreat
The Brother's of the Alpha Rho chapter take a semesterly camping trip to one of the great state parks around the state of Georgia. The outdoors is a great change of pace from metro Atlanta!

Phi Tau Snowed In
Every fall semester, Snowed in brings an atmosphere of fun to Tech's campus. Complete with a snow machine and band, this party brings a winter feel to the South!
Big Hick Hoe Down
During the spring semester, Big Hick provides a great source of entertainment for our Brothers. A large barn structure is constructed in front of the house for all your party needs.

Ice Skating
Early in the spring, Phi Tau rents out one of the Atlanta Thrasher’s practice rinks. Half of the rink is devoted to playing hockey and the other half is for skating, or at least trying to.
