At the Alpha Rho Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau, we believe in giving back to the Atlanta community in order to not only improve that community, but to also improve our brotherhood. Most brothers will tell you that this is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of fraternity life.
National Philanthropy
Our national philanthropy is The Hole in the Wall Gang, which is a series of summer camps for children with serious and life-threatening medical conditions. Our chapter tries to schedule at least one event each year to raise as much money for this philanthropy as possible.
Charles Harris Race for Leukemia
This event is a 10k/5k/1 mile road race held at a local high school and middle school in Tucker, GA to benefit those that suffer from Leukemia. Thanks to the efforts of Phi Tau, the race was able to get necessary volunteers less than a week before the event began. The race organizer went to several other fraternities on campus that day, and the response of others paled in comparison to that of our brothers. During the race, the brothers called out times to the runners, set up for the event, and helped those who suffer from Leukemia.
Team BUZZ
Our brothers have great turnout in this event created by Georgia Tech students to make a difference in the surrounding city area. This past year, we had a group of brothers help beautify Chastain Park, working with Chastain Park Conservancy to remove overgrowth from the park.
Tech Beautification Day
This event is organized and executed entirely by students at Georgia Tech in an effort to give back to the campus. Phi Taus helped landscape vast portions of GT's campus.
IFC Habitat for Humanity Project
The Alpha Rho Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau has donated $10 per brother to the IFC’s Habitat for Humanity project. The project is an effort among all Georgia Tech fraternities to support Habitat.
March of Dimes - March for Babies
Every April, Phi Kappa Tau volunteers as a fraternity to help set up and run the March of Dimes "March for Babies". This is a very popular run/walk event that takes place in and around downtown Atlanta to support research that improves the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
Central Church Homeless Shelter
Phi Kappa Tau brothers volunteer at the Central Church Homeless Shelter where they feed the Homeless and watch over the building.
